New Custom Delivery Truck for CRT’s Meals on Wheels Program Rolls Out in Hartford

After losing one of the trucks in its fleet of custom delivery vehicles last year due to an accident, CRT was proud to show its brand new Meals on Wheels truck, complete with red bow, for the first time. This vehicle and custom chassis that holds hot, nutritious meals for homebound seniors was purchased with the support of donations from the local community.

Fox 61’s Keith McGilvery and Margaux Farrell spoke with CRT’s Director of Nutrition, Gariann Chiarella, about the new truck and what it means to this vital program for seniors throughout Central Connecticut.

See How One Family Helps to ‘Share the Love’ this Holiday Season

Keith McGilvery from Fox 61 helped to “Share the Love” about an amazing act of kindness from a family in Portland, CT giving back to people in need during the holidays.

Lou and Wendy Vinci from Portland, CT are making “skid trees” this year out of salvaged wooden pallets in the shape of Christmas Trees that are being sold for only $5 each, and all of the proceeds are going to benefit the local food pantry in their community. Lou’s family has benefited from CRT’s Meals on Wheels program in the past and they wanted to find a way to help others this year. The handmade trees are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
