Seniors Give Back as Community Volunteers
Seniors are encouraged to share their knowledge, talents and skills through meaningful volunteer opportunities in the Greater Hartford-Central CT Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
Your life will be enhanced along with the lives of those you help. Choose your site from a list of nonprofit agencies, organizations and schools throughout Greater Hartford/Central Connecticut. We offer a variety of activities to choose from — tutoring and mentoring children, adult literacy, home bound meals delivery, transporting seniors to medical appointments, helping travelers at the airport, or helping seniors “age in place.”
Approximately 340 volunteers participated in CRT’s Greater Hartford/Central CT RSVP program last year at over 35 different sites. Volunteers receive training and are supported in their volunteer placements to ensure a satisfying experience.
You can learn more about our program in our recent newsletters:
Volunteers must be 55 years of age and older. Call the RSVP office at (860) 519-3484 to schedule an in-person or phone interview.
Then discuss your interests with a member of our staff. Some sites require more paperwork and background checks. Once accepted, you will be introduced to the site and receive training.

“I enjoy participating in the RSVP program. I love to be out and meet people, I’m driving clients to appointments and I really like it.”
