Energy Assistance

HELP IS AVAILABLE TO PAY YOUR HOME-HEATING BILLS

IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE PAYING YOUR HOME HEATING BILLS, TURN TO CRT FOR HELP.

CRT can help you complete the application – by phone, email or in-person at our multi-service centers in Hartford and Middletown. 

DATES FOR 2025-2026

Please take note of the following important program dates:

September 1, 2025         Accepting applications

September 2, 2025         First day to call 860-560-5800 to make an appointment

November 3, 2025          First day fuel deliveries that can be paid by the program

April 1, 2026                    Deadline for fuel authorizations for deliveries

May 29, 2026                  Last day that a household can apply to establish its eligibility for benefits

June 17, 2026                  Last day to submit deliverable fuel bills

2025-2026 ENERGY ASSISTANCE INCOME GUIDELINES:

Eligibility is based on household size and income.

WAYS TO APPLY FOR ENERGY ASSISTANCE:

  • IN PERSON:  Contact CRT to schedule an in-person appointment at 860-560-5800  If you cannot wait until the next available appointment, please consider alternate ways to apply for assistance listed below:
  • ONLINE:  Apply via the State of CT Department of Social Services (DSS) website www.ct.gov/heatinghelp/applyonline Please note this is the fastest way to apply. 
  • EMAIL:  Fill out an application at a CRT Multi-Service Center or download the application from the DSS website and email the application with required documents to crtenergyapplication@crtct.org.
  • PAPER APPLICATION:  Obtain a paper application at a CRT Multi-Service Center or download from DSS website.  Mail or fax completed application with required documents to CRT, 395 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford, CT  06114
  • If you reside outside the Greater Hartford Area, call your local town Social Services office.

To apply call the CRT Call Center at 860-560-5800 to make an appointment at one of CRT’s Multi-Service Centers.
