The Retreat

The Retreat, A Unique Assisted Living Senior Community in Hartford

The Retreat is the first urban-built affordable assisted living community in Connecticut. This year The Retreat celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Entrance to The Retreat affordable assisted living facility

Our community consists of 100 apartments with a combination of studios and one-bedrooms. Private bathrooms, step or roll-in showers, kitchenettes, individually controlled heat and air conditioning and 24-hour emergency response system are standard features of each apartment. All homes are wheelchair accessible.

Members and their guests enjoy each other in any one of our Living and Family Rooms, Library, Media Room, Internet Café and Chapel. They purchase snacks and sundries at our South End Market (run by our members).

At The Retreat, we believe that receiving appropriate medical care is the foundation for living a quality life. We have excellent on site medical care to keep our members as healthy as possible.

Social and recreational gatherings are at our members’ fingertips. Our programs adjust to match the interests of our groups. The “Civic Center” activity room offers a place for meeting friends and making new ones. Our members enjoy trips to local and state-wide attractions, join in games, arts and crafts and often create gatherings of their own.
