Business Solutions

Identifying Possibilities … Developing Potential … Executing on Opportunities!
The current economic climate, the uncertainty of federal funds, and low employment rates have given CRT cause for researching alternative options. We have looked for ways to leverage existing resources to generate and bring additional jobs to help our communities, and at the same time, ways to help CRT become more self-sufficient. CRT will continue to look for opportunities to utilize Connecticut’s labor force to strengthen our families and communities. We are open to partnerships and collaborative projects to strategically invest in Hartford and Middlesex counties.

The Meadows
Established in 1993, we utilized our expertise in construction and development to create CRT’s first social enterprise, the Meadows Real Estate Management and Development Corporation (The Meadows). The Meadows is dedicated to providing affordable housing by building and rehabilitating low and moderate-income housing. The Meadows has created jobs for unemployed and underemployed technical and construction workers, created economic growth for local businesses and provided affordable housing for those in need.

A partial list of Meadows projects includes The Retreat, a 100-unit affordable assisted living complex in Hartford and Hartford Generations Housing Project, an innovative mixed-use development including large apartments for grandparents raising their grandchildren and smaller apartments for “empty nest” elders.

In the Coming Years
In 2012, CRT is embarking on two new initiatives that will utilize CRT’s expertise and experience to benefit Connecticut’s work force through training and employment opportunities generated by new business ventures.

CRT Print and Copy Shop LLC (The Shop)
Our in-house printing shop will expand operations to offer print and copy services to local merchants, nonprofit agencies, and the community. The CRT Print and Copy Shop (‘The Shop’) offers a variety of on-site print and copy business services from simple copying to printing and binding. On-the-job training will enhance the skills of participants in every aspect of print technology from preparation to product finishing.

“If we can spend the early decades of the 21st Century finding approaches that meet the needs of the poor in ways that generate profit for business, we will have found a sustainable way to reduce poverty in the world.” - Bill Gates
