The Meadows

Since 1985, CRT’s construction and development affiliate has been increasing the affordable housing and child care available to residents of Central Connecticut, while providing jobs and creating economic growth. Incorporated in 1996 as the Meadows Real Estate Management and Development Corporation, this full-service firm takes a project from concept and financing to occupancy and property management.

Best known for building and renovating award-winning housing for low- and moderate-income seniors and families, The Meadows also develops preschools, offices and industrial buildings. The Meadows can assist property owners, private investors, housing authorities, regional and municipal governments, non-profit organization and others meet their needs for affordable housing, educational space and licensed healthcare facilities.

From Concept to Construction
Meadows developments provide unique solutions to unmet needs in the community. For example, The Retreat is a 100-unit affordable assisted living residence that elegantly uses an odd-shaped parcel of land near downtown Hartford; bay windows offer commanding views and the interiors are equal to anything found in a market-rate residence. Generations is an innovative mixed-use development including large newly-built town houses for grandparents raising their grandchildren and apartments in a renovated century-old school for “empty nest” elders.

In the past five years, The Meadows has also developed a transitional residence for homeless veterans and a three-story office building with a mental health clinic as anchor tenant. In each unique case, The Meadows steers the project through the complexity of all licensing and regulatory stipulations.

Meadows projects have won awards for design, construction and historic renovation.  Generations was named the Best Affordable Housing Development for Families by Affordable Housing Magazine, and The Meadows president was asked to speak about Low Income Housing Tax Credits at a national affordable housing conference.

Occupancy and Management Specialists
Screening tenants and issuing leases. Maintaining the grounds and plowing the driveways. Responding to late-night emergency calls. Many property owners don’t have the time or the expertise to manage these issues.

The Meadows offers an a la carte menu of property management services, aimed at reducing turnover and vacancy rates while enhancing the value of your investment.  Supplement your staff with a few services from The Meadows or hire us to run the entire building – either way you save because of the skill and efficiency of our staff.

Resident retention and compliance is essential to improving profitability. Because The Meadows is an affiliate of CRT, your tenants can be quickly referred to support services if they should they find themselves in financial trouble.  This decreases unnecessary tenant turnover, providing greater stability to the property.
