Building the Community

Services

The Meadows Real Estate Management and Development Corporation (The Meadows) is CRT’s development and construction affiliate, dedicated to providing non-profit housing for the elderly, homeless and economically disadvantaged. Established in 1993, it is active in building and rehabilitating low and moderate income housing by leveraging multiple programs and funding sources.

A partial list of Meadows projects includes:

  • The Retreat, a 100-unit affordable assisted living complex in Hartford. This $20 million demonstration project is across from Hartford Hospital.

  • Coventry Place, a 30-unit apartment building in Bloomfield for low-income elderly, near the former Mount Sinai Hospital.

  • Hartford Grandfamily Housing Project, an innovative mixed-use development including large apartments for grandparents raising their grandchildren and smaller apartments for “empty nest” elders.

  • Affordable developments in the Greater Hartford area, including Jackie Schaffer Apartments, Barbour Street Apartments and Wethersfield Commons.

Eligibility Requirements

Housing is built/offered to age-specific and/or economically disadvantaged persons who might not otherwise obtain appropriate housing. It must be built/offered in accordance with regulations established by the source(s) of funding.
