Services

The CRT Home Ownership Made Easy (HOME) Center offers assistance to low- income homeowners or homebuyers in the City of Hartford.

Homeownership assistance:

CRT provides in-house counseling and a first time home buying programs. Classes walk through the process of purchasing a first home from credit reporting, to choosing and closing on a home mortgage. This helps participants make informed decisions regarding the biggest purchase of their lives.

Home Renovation assistance:

Inspection of one’s home to review work that needs to be addressed, in regards to energy and safety.
Assistance is also provided in acquiring grants or low interest loans to afford the work to be performed on the home.

Financial Literacy Counseling:

Home budget and credit counseling reviews income & spending habits to help clients better afford a home and promote planning and savings habits for the future. Group classes are provided in:
- FDIC Money Smart Program
- Financial Literacy
lessons cover opening the first checking account, understanding loan and credit options, “Pay yourself first” savings habits, putting together a home budget, credit repair, predatory lending and Identity theft.

Individual Development Accounts (IDA):

IDA help to save money towards a major life goal such as purchase of first home, start of a small business, or further one’s education. In some cases, IDAs may be used for the purchase of a vehicle or as a security deposit on an apartment. For every dollar saved (up to $2000.00) the IDA program will match two.
