Fresh Start

 

Services

The Fresh Start program is a 12-month, residential program designed for female, substance abusing offenders and their children. The program provides a safe, nurturing environment for women and children as they face recovery from addiction and learn new life skills that develop their self-sufficiency. Clients move through tiers addressing substance abuse treatment and recovery, employment readiness and work, and community reintegration and
independent living.

While in the program women receive the following services:
Assessment/Intake, Case Management, Individual Service Planning, Substance Abuse Treatment, Mental Health Services, Medical Services, Crisis Intervention, Day Care/Head Start Referral/Enrollment, Adult Education,
Parenting Assessment/Evaluation/Referral and Skill Training, Life Skills, Vocational Counseling, Employment Readiness Training, Health Education, Sexual Assault/Survivor Support Community Service, Recreation, Self Help Groups, Aftercare, Anger Management, Domestic Violence Support.

 

 

Eligibility Requirements

Must be 21 year of age or older and have a history of substance abuse. Mothers with children receive preference.

 

Application Process

Referrals are received via representatives of the Judicial Branch (e.g. Bail, Probation, DOC or CSSD). Fresh Start staff will conduct assessments at court, correctional institutions for women or at the program itself. Fresh Start
reserves the right to accept or reject clients based on the assessment.
