Food Stamp Employment and Training

Services

The Food Stamp Employment and Training Program (FSE&T) moves clients toward meaningful employment by instituting career exploration, providing employability skills workshops and coordinating Job Development and Employer Services within CT Works.

Eligibility Requirements

Clients must be Food Stamp mandatory registrants, between the ages of 18 and 50 who are able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs). Non-ABAWDs and ABAWDs who reside in waived or exempted towns are not subject to the same work requirement, but may be referred to FSE&T and must participate as assigned.

Application Process

DSS Eligibility Services Workers screen clients and refer those eligible to CRT, using a Form 1120. CRT’s Employment Specialist will assist the client in selecting a program from the list of available services; issue a detailed appointment letter; and provide directions and transportation assistance, if necessary.
