Early Care and Education

Services

CRT operates several comprehensive, early childhood programs that provide developmentally appropriate care services. These programs support cognitive abilities, reading, language, mathematics, social and emotional competence, motor development, and physical health. These programs include:

  • Infant and Toddler Day Care:

Provides quality daycare services for families with infants and toddlers.

  • Head Start:

Provides educational experience for pre-schoolers as well as directed activities that promote physical, nutritional, emotional, and social development of children while encouraging parent involvement.

  • School Readiness:

Ensures children enter school healthy and ready to succeed by preparing them to learn, read, and succeed in school.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility requirements vary by program and are based on the family’s income according to family size, the child’s age and disability. Eligibility information for these programs is available by contacting the enrollment office

Service Hours and Locations

Early Care and Education Centers are located in Bloomfield, Bristol, Clinton, East Hartford, Hartford, Middletown, Portland and Windsor. The centers operate at various times during the year and hours of operation may vary but most centers are open from 7:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m. Interested families should contact the enrollment office for location and hours of operation.

Application Process

Parents who wish to enroll their children must fill out an application at CRT:
Head Start Center Locations
Family Service Centers
• 555 Windsor St., Hartford Enrollment Office

Parents must bring the following documentation for enrollment:
• Income Verification for household for one month (for example: Tax Forms, W-2 Form, Unemployment compensation, Pay stubs)
• Medical insurance card
• Proof of address
• Updated physical exam (within one year)
• Birth Certificate
• Social Security Card
